2. POSITION: Teacher/Senior Teacher (Science)
REPORTING TO: Head, University Basic School
JOB SUMMARY:
• The successful candidate will not only deliver high-quality education to students but also take on additional responsibilities that support and enhance the overall academic and operational functions of the school. This role includes mentoring junior teachers, contributing to curriculum development, and leading initiatives to improve educational outcomes.
The Teacher/Senior Teacher (Science) shall be responsible for:
• Delivering engaging and effective lessons in accordance with the school's curriculum.
• Developing and refining curriculum materials and teaching methods in collaboration with colleagues.
• Staying updated on educational best practices and incorporating them into teaching strategies.
• Providing guidance and mentorship to junior and new teachers.
• Leading professional development sessions and workshops.
• Observing and providing constructive feedback to peers to foster professional growth.
• Maintaining a positive and productive classroom environment.
• Implementing school-wide behaviour policies and procedures.
• Addressing and resolving significant classroom management issues, supporting junior teachers as needed.
• Designing and administering assessments to monitor student progress.
• Analyzing assessment data to inform instructional practices.
• Ensuring consistent and fair evaluation standards across the grade level or subject area.
• Identifying and supporting students with diverse learning needs.
• Collaborating with special education staff and counsellors to provide comprehensive student support.
• Fostering an inclusive classroom environment that supports all students' emotional and social development.
• Communicating regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and concerns.
• Serving as a liaison between teachers, parents, and school administration.
• Participating in and contributing to school meetings, committees, and community events.
• Maintaining accurate records of student performance and attendance.
• Assisting in the planning and organization of school events and activities.
• Ensuring compliance with school policies and procedures.
• Performing duties as may be required of him/her by the Head of School.
• Leading or participating in school improvement initiatives and projects.
• Collaborating with school leadership to set and achieve academic goals.
• Acting as a role model and upholding the values and standards of the University Basic School.
Qualification Required & Experience
Applicants must:
• have a Diploma/Bachelor's degree in Education or related field.
• have a valid state teaching certification/license in the subject area and grade level being taught.
• have a strong knowledge of subject matter and pedagogical techniques.
• have an excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• have ability to manage a classroom effectively and engage students.
• have a proficiency in educational technology and innovative teaching methods.
• have a strong organizational and time management skills.
• have ability to work collaboratively and lead teams.
• have a minimum of 5-7 years of teaching experience.
• demonstrate experience in leadership roles or mentoring.
