Job Vacancy For Regional Advisor
Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) - is a public-benefit federal enterprise working in more than 100 countries worldwide. Project Brief:
• The EPSAO follow-on measure, support to ECOWAS Peace, Security and Governance, EPSG (co-funded by the BMZ and EU) seeks to enhance the implementation of the ECOWAS Peace and Security Architecture (EPSA) at both regional and national levels. By focusing on conflict prevention, management, mediation, and resolution, the Project aims to promote democratic principles and human security within the region.
Scope of Role:
• The position holder under the supervision of the Head of Component for Output 5, plan, implement and monitor EPSG’s cooperation with Ecole du Maintain de la Paix – Alioune Blondin Beye (EMP-ABB).
• Support the implementation of activities in coastal states under the Sahel Plus Initiative.
• Implementing daily operational aspects of all issues related to the project and processing technical aspects and further developing the area of responsibility in accordance with the specified quality standards.
Tasks:
• Conduct joint operational planning with the EMP-ABB to identify priority activities based on a joint Capacity Needs Assessment. Activities may include development and delivery of training, research and policy dialogue, as well as organizational development, digitalization, monitoring and evaluation.
• Initiate, coordinate, implement and monitor activities under the Joint Operational Plan with the EMP-ABB.
• Work under the guidance of Heads of Components and in close coordination with the Technical Advisors of the Abuja-based EPSG components that support regional efforts for early warning and early response, security sector reform and governance, elections and women, youth, peace and security
• Ensure alignment with Project monitoring and evaluation framework by implementing activities and collecting data in accordance with the established M&E approach. Analyze and utilize data to inform continuous improvement in implementation strategy.
• Ensure accurate and timely reporting, documentation and dissemination of project information.
• Provide technical advice on the preparation, implementation and monitoring of a grant agreement.
• Support efforts to strengthen cooperation within the regional training infrastructure comprised of TCEs and with the ECOWAS Commission through technical advice.
• Liaise with stakeholders in Northern parts of Ghana, Togo and Benin
Qualification Required & Experience
• Bachelors/Masters degree in areas that is related to the project/programme objective with focus on a relevant field.
• A minimum of five years’ relevant work experience in a comparable position.
• Willingness to travel (abroad) regularly, in particular to Mali, Togo, Benin and Nigeria
• Proficiency in English and French (reading, writing and speaking)
• Willingness to upskill as required by the tasks to be performed – corresponding measures are agreed with management
• Strong knowledge of ICT technologies and computer applications.
• Excellent team-working and communication skills as well as excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent knowledge of English.
• Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office, MS Team, Word, Excel, Power Point,
• Ability to work under pressure of deadlines, high degree of flexibility, attention to detail
