Job Vacancy For Consultant Trainer – Women with Disabilities Capacity Building



Background:

The ‘Strengthening civil society representation of women with disabilities in Ghana’ project commenced in May 2024 and is a 2-year project funded by the European Union. The programme aims to strengthen the capacity for Organisations of People with Disabilities (OPDs), and organisations of women with disabilities in the areas of management, communication, fundraising, coordination, advocacy, gender, climate change, networking and financial accountability. Sightsavers will build the capacity of two OPDs, namely Women with Disability Development and Advocacy Organisation (WODAO), and the Alliance for Better Advocacy and Knowledge (ABAK) Foundation. WODAO and the ABAK Foundation will then cascade the capacity building areas downstream to members and partners to strengthen their ability to claim their rights and hold duty bearers to account.

Responsibilities

Purpose of Consultancy:

Sightsavers is contracting an expert(s) to assist in training the ABAK foundation and WODAO in various capacity building areas, as well as supporting these two OPDs to develop/ revise some organisational strategic documents.

The assignment includes:

Facilitation: Work with Sightsavers teams to train staff and board members of the ABAK foundation and WODAO in the following areas:

• Resource mobilisation
• Organisational development
• Strategic planning
• Gender mainstreaming
• Communication
• Leadership & governance

Development of strategic documents: Collaborate with Sightsavers technical experts and the OPDs to develop the following strategic documents.

• Gender mainstreaming strategy
• Organisational strategy
• Resource mobilisation strategy
• Advocacy plan
• Climate change/ emergency preparedness plan
• Sustainability plans

Methodology:

The consultant will act as a facilitator and leader in the delivery of each of the activities. In the case of the training, this will include the development of the training materials and tools and facilitation. In the case of the development of the strategic documents this will include drafting the documents and submitting them for review by Sightsavers. The consultant will also be responsible for ensuring the technical accuracy of the content and the overall completion of the work.

The consultant will be required to work closely with Sightsavers teams, consulting them at each stage. However, logistical arrangements and the mobilisation of the relevant trainees will be done by Sightsavers.

Outputs and Deliverables of the Consultants/s:

The consultant is expected to produce the following:

• Training plan outlining the training, objectives, approaches and techniques as well as the materials and the resources required.
• Training report detailing participation, facilitation and participants feedback, among other relevant contents.
• New or updated versions of the strategic documents for each of the two organisations.

Experience and Qualifications of the Consultant

• The trainer(s) must provide evidence of skills, experience and knowledge in providing capacity building support and disability inclusion (desirable).
• The trainer(s) must have experience in the review or development of organisational strategic documents.
• The trainer(s) should have provided evidence of conducting capacity building support to organisations/ groups along with examples of reports.
• The trainer(s) must demonstrate experience of working as an external trainer(s) for international organisations, the private sector and/or national development organisations.
