Job Vacancy For Deputy Director, Environmental Health
Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons to fill a vacancy in the post of Deputy Director, Environmental Health in the Parliamentary Service of Ghana.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
The Deputy Director, environmental health shall provide support to the clerk to Parliament and management of the Parliamentary Service by performing the following duties:
• Develop and enforce the implementation of technical guidelines on environmental health management and services
• Advise on all aspects of environmental health, occupational or personal hygiene and environmental protection
• Monitor and evaluate the performance and utilization of sanitation facilities, waste management services and advise on their improvement and sustainability
• Initiate and apply social techniques and concepts in the solution of environmental health problems
• Promote public education on environmental health
• Provide technical advice for the formulation of environmental health policies
• Enforce compliance with standards of hygiene in the precincts of parliament
• Initiate vector-control programmes and strategies for preventing and controlling environmentally related diseases
• Promote food and water hygiene programmes
• Conduct research, collect data and document activities and issues on environmental health management
• Perform any other duties that may be assigned by the clerk to parliament
Qualification Required & Experience
• A good first degree in environmental science or relevant discipline from a recognized university with a minimum of 9 years post qualification work experience in environment health and sanitation and a Master's degree in environmental science or relevant discipline with at least 3 years in a position analogous to chief environmental health analyst in a public service institution OR
• A good first degree and a master's degree in environmental science or relevant discipline from a recognized university with a minimum of 5 years post-master's degree qualification work experience and at least 3 years in a position analogous to chief environmental health analyst in a public service institution
Age Limit: An applicant should not be above 55 years of age on the date of appointment to this post. This age limitation does not apply to an officer who has served in the public service or state agency before the attainment of the voluntary retirement age of 45 years
