Title: Senior Officer, Assaying
Reports To: Principal Officer, Technical
Job Summary:
Responsible for supporting the assay unit in ensuring accurate and reliable testing of gold and precious metals, including conducting assays, maintaining quality standards, and upholding the integrity of gold-related activities.
Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct testing of gold samples using techniques such as fire assay, wet chemistry, XRF analysis, and other relevant methods.
• Ensure accurate metal composition and purity determination for licensing or regulatory purposes.
• Assist in the validation and verification of new testing methods to ensure accuracy and reliability.
• Follow quality control protocols to ensure consistency in assay results.
• Assist in maintaining compliance with standards and regulatory requirements.
• Support audits of laboratory processes and equipment to ensure adherence to standards.
Qualification Required & Experience
Skills and Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgy, Chemistry, Material Science, Mining Engineering, or related discipline.
• Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in assaying and metallurgical analysis.
• Knowledge of assay techniques such as fire assay, wet chemistry, XRF analysis, and other analytical methods for precious metals.
• Proficiency in laboratory management software and data analysis tools.
• Understanding of regulatory frameworks governing precious metal testing and certification.
• Ethical and responsible in maintaining integrity in assay results and sample handling.
