African Cocoa Initiative Project Coordinator Wanted For Employment By World Cocoa Foundation (WCF)



The World Cocoa Foundation (WCF) is a non-profit organization promoting social and economic development as well as environmental stewardship in cocoa-growing communities of Africa, Southeast Asia and the Americas. WCF manages the Cocoa Livelihoods Program, which works with 200,000 cocoa farmers in Cameroon, Cote d' Ivoire, Ghana, Liberia and Nigeria through the implementation of multiple activities by five in-country technical partners. Description Of Job

WCF seeks an African Cocoa Initiative Project Coordinator to provide backstopping support to the Chief of Party and four country teams for the WCF African Cocoa Initiative.

This position is initially for a two-year term, with possible extension, since this is a five-year project that ends in 2016. Applicants will be based in the WCF office in Accra, Ghana. Applicant must be bi-lingual in French and English, as the project covers activities in Francophone and Anglophone countries. The Project Coordinator will report directly to the COP based in Accra, Ghana, and will also work closely with WCF's Washington, D.C - based Senior Program Director. Estimated start date: July 15, 2012.

The position includes responsibility for overseeing the grant application and management process for the grant funding to be allocated to consultants, partners, and consulting firms.

Specific Responsibilities:

. Provide program management and backstop support to COP, specifically for the WCF African Cocoa Initiative Project
. Liaise with multiple program partners (including industry members, implementing partners and government agencies) across four West African countries (both Anglophone and Francophone)
. Provide oversight for USAID procedures and reporting requirements for project documents, updates, reviews and annual reports
. Review country reports and indicators to verify program milestones
. Consolidate and prepare written semi-annual and annual reports for submission to USAID and other program funders
. Assist with communications materials
. Organize and coordinate regular meetings and teleconferences with stakeholders to monitor progress
. Assist with other related activities as assigned
. Undertake regular travel to program sites for program and general WCF purposes

Grants Management:

. Prepare and negotiate sub-agreements, purchase agreements, independent consultant agreements and other grants/contracts documents as needed including modifications, working with program staff to ensure successful implementation of the ACI Program Description
. Prepare and publish, as necessary, Requests for Application (RFAs) in concordance with the ACI grants manual, and lead the receipt and evaluation along with the technical teams of those applications
. Review costs for reasonableness and allowability, in accordance with applicable U.S. Government regulations

Required Skills or Experience

Candidates should possess excellent organizational and report writing skills, as well as have a good understanding of development and agricultural issues. Detailed-oriented, multi-tasking, and dynamic persons are desirable. Experience working on and managing USAID funded projects and knowledge of USAID reporting and procedure is essential. Candidates should be self-starters, thriving in a multi-cultural environment and small team atmosphere.

. Undergraduate degree in agriculture, business, international affairs or other related field
. Excellent verbal and written communications skills, including functional French Language skills for professional environments
. Strong organizational and analytical skills, preferably with demonstrated background in program management
. 3+ years of experience working international agriculture and/or economic development
. USAID project management experience
. Overseas experience working in developing countries desirable, particularly West Africa
. Ability and interest to work in a fast-paced, small office work environment
. Experience with private and public sector donor relationships
. Strong understanding of monitoring and evaluation a plus
. Communication skills in English and French languages
