Abosso Gold Fields Ltd - Damang Gold Mine, a subsidiary of Gold Fields Limited is a world-class operation, consisting of 25 Mtpa open pit-mining operations and a 5.2 Mtpa CIL Metallurgical Plant. The mine is located in tropical climate in the Western Region of Ghana.

Job Summary

Department: Finance

The Supply Chain Section of the Finance Department seeks to employ an experienced and self-motivated person for the above position. The incumbent will apply acquired knowledge and experience in the mining industry to assist in ensuring the implementation of Supply Chain best practices and systems in the Department.

Key Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, the Superintendent will be responsible and accountable for:

•  Liaising with other parts of the Group Procurement community and contributes best-practices among Group
•  Acting as category domain expertise in appointed categories
•  Identifying and promote cost reduction/avoidance opportunities
•  Supporting business owners across spectrum of support levels required in business-executed procurement activity
•  Driving execution of New Supplier Approval System
•  Maintaining procurement-led training plans and programmes
•  Sourcing and negotiating the supply of the best available product offerings according to predetermined standards, including supply guarantee, competitive pricing, risk and supplier credits as required
•  Actively contributing to procurement excellence in commodity area and to business initiatives
•  Effectively managing the logistic process to ensure that your category of commodities is available as required
•  Ensuring a constant availability of critical and high value stock items
•  Maintaining and build professional and ethical relations with suppliers and relevant internal and external stakeholders
•  Adherence to legal requirements, supply chain policies and procedures
•  Reviewing supply chain policies and procedures and recommend changes for improvement
•  Implementation of systems that supports supply chain needs of operations
•  Adhoc projects and exercises
•  Coaching and motivating people to do the work

Qualification Required & Experience

The appointee should have:

•  An appropriate tertiary qualification from an accredited institution preferably in the field of Material
•  Management
•  A minimum of five years experience in procurement in the mining industry
•  Proven leadership, interpersonal and organisational skills
•  A high level of computer literacy in the use and application of MS Office products
•  Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
•  Familiarity with Ghana Import/Export regulations (CEPS Procuredures)
•  Preferably have sound knowledge and experience of SAP ERP systems
•  Valid Ghanaian driving licence and ability to drive a light vehicle
