The Chief Operating Officer reports to the President of the university and serves on the Executive Team. As the chief financial and administrative officer of the university, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing financial planning, budget development and control, investments, human resource services, operations and facilities management and student admissions.
Responsibilities:
• Develop revenue and expense budgets and achieve growth and sustainability objectives.
• Develop and execute strategic plans to accelerate the development of new academic programs and campus construction.
• Develop, execute, and report upon the effectiveness of innovative campaigns to recruit the best and brightest students from Africa and around the world.
• Manage day-to-day operations of the university—developing, maintaining, and ensuring compliance with world-class policies and practices in all functional areas.
• Build and manage the performance of a strong team with a culture of high performance, integrity and continuous improvement
• Collaborate with the Ashesi University Foundation and other partners on brand identity.
• Nurture an institutional culture that consistently delivers on Ashesi’s core values.

Qualification Required & Experience
We believe that to succeed in this role you will need the following experience:
• Minimum three years in general management with P&L responsibility and cross-functional team management.
• Demonstrated ability to manage financial and operations functions.
• Experience in a Liberal Arts college is strongly preferred.
• Excellent communication skills in English. The ability to communicate in French and one or more Ghanaian languages is a plus.
• A graduate degree in business or a related field from a respected university.
