Job Vacancy For Public Financial Management Expert At The Urban Institute



The Urban Institute, a non-profit organization based in Washington DC, is seeking to hire local government experts for a forthcoming project on building local government capacity in public financial management in Ghana.

The project team will work closely with MMA staff and officials in a number of different locations to build skills and capacity. The program is expected to take place over 3 years starting around October 1, 2012. Positions are contingent upon project award.

Public Financial Management Specialist:

. She/He should have experience in budgeting, revenue management, reporting, accounting, auditing.
. Familiarity with participatory approaches preferred. Expected to give support to MMAs in financial reporting, cash management, account management, strengthen internal auditing processes, budget and revenue management and revenue enhancement.

Position will require extensive in-country travel.

Qualification Required & Experience

We are looking for people with strong technical expertise, an interest in working with people, and excellent interpersonal skills.

. Should have at least 5-10 years of experience in the following areas: financial evaluation of local governments, financial management (both in training others and in practice), budget preparation and review and the development of revenue management and enhancement plans.
. Experience with training and capacity building (through mentoring, guiding, providing technical assistance) is highly desirable.
. Fluency in English is a requirement, with fluency in one or more local language highly desirable.
. Applicant should have at least a Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree preferred) in a related field with 5-10 years of working experience.

Position will require extensive in-country travel. Position is contingent upon project award.
