The Office of the UN World Food Programme, Accra invites applications from suitable candidates to fill the above vacancy.

Post Grade: NOB - Fixed Term
Duration: 1 year renewable
Duty Station: Tamale (to cover 3 Northern Regions)

Purpose:

Under the direct supervision of the Heads of Agencies from the four REACH UN Agencies (or their designates) and with direct formal supervisor carried out by the Country Director of the designated REACH administrative agency, the selected candidates will be responsible for the following duties.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Facilitate multi-sectoral, multi-stakeholder scoping mission concerning food security and nutrition for better understanding of the situation to design appropriate intervention
2. Develop a joint/partner nutrition advocacy strategy
3. Review and enhance multi sector National Nutrition Policy/Strategy/Action Plan
4. Support Document of a multi-annual, multi sectoral nutrition action plan for scale-up and integrating with other relevant investment plans
5. Along the national level stakeholders, develop sectoral planning templates, tools and guidelines for nutrition specific programmes
6. Provide technical assistance to district level teams or officers for nutrition sensitive policy and budgeting, including mapping and monitoring
7. Backstopping of the appropriate regional and district structures on relevant nutritional action plan
8. Strengthening of institutional and human capacity for nutrition action at community level
9. Support the harmonization of nutrition related information across key sectors into the consolidated food security and nutrition information system
10. Perform other related duties as and when required

Qualification Required & Experience

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

. Advanced University Degree in economics, public policy or administration, management, public health, nutrition agriculture or related field

. At least 8 years of professional experience in managing nutrition, food security, public health programmes and/or policy processes

. Field experience in the country of deployment is highly preferred

. Experience in monitoring and evaluation mechanisms

. Technical background in nutrition, food security, and/or health, OR technical background in management and change management

. Strong skills in facilitation, project management, team-building, and conflict resolution or mediation

. Excellent communications and interpersonal skills; ability to influence and interact with senior level decision-makers across different organizations and cultures; to act with credibility, tact and diplomacy on sensitive issues and discussions

. Excellent knowledge of computer

Languages:  Fluency in both written and oral English as  well as local dialect of the duty station
