Description Of Job

We are currently seeking a Program Manager for an anticipated multi-year project supporting small-scale rice farmers in the Volta and parts of the Northern Regions. The successful candidate will be responsible:

. Building the management capacity of 40 aggregators to extend improved services to 10,000 small holder rice farmers in the Volta and parts of the Northern region of Ghana. This activity will be carried out in close coordination with private sector partners under an aggregator/agent certification and training program and;

. Reducing the management burden of growth and the high unit cost of extension service delivery through the use of appropriate information and communication technologies. This component will support private sector services providers, make more effective use of FM radio as an extension and farmer communications tool  and work closely with a software development company to develop IT based management tools for commercial aggregators and agents

Qualification Required & Experience

. The successful candidate must be demonstrated and successful innovator and implementer of private sector led agribusiness programs.
. She/he will hold a graduate degree in agriculture, business or a related field or equivalent field experience;
. Minimum of five years proven experience in managing agriculture sector programs with a focus on training and capacity building;
. Demonstrated knowledge of the rice industry in Ghana;
. Proven experience collaborating with private sector player including input suppliers, aggregators, processors and buyers;
. Knowledge of using IT to facilitate service provision desirable
. Experience working with private sector agribusiness firms is a strong plus
