NATIONAL PROJECT COORDINATOR, BASED IN TAMALE WITH OVERSIGHT OF UPPER EAST & GREATER ACCRA REGIONS

The Youth Empowerment Alliance (YEA), an international alliance with 7 members working in 7 countries in Africa and Asia, seeks to recruit an energetic and experienced SRHR project in Ghana. In Ghana the Access, Service and Knowledge (ASK) programme, "What young people need, what young people want" is implemented by Simavi, IPPF, and dance4life, through 7 local NGO's.

Simavi is a member of the Youth Empowerment Alliance (YEA) that aims at empowering young people through information and access to reproductive health services. The other Alliance members include IPPF, AMREF, CHOICE, dance4life Rutgers, WPF, Stop AIDS now.

The candidate, when recruited, will coordinate the activities of six (6) local NGOs that are being contracted to implement the project in the Northern and Upper East Regions. The person will report directly to the Alliance Programme Manager based in the Netherlands and responsible for the Ghana country project.

Qualification Required & Experience

The requirements for this position include:

•   A post graduate/Master's Degree plus two (2) years relevant work experience in Project Management, an understanding of work in NGOs/CSO's in SRHR and youth related programs, Extensive understanding of NGOs/CSOs work in Ghana.
•   Experience in creating and influencing political and multi-organizational level strategies; demonstrable commitment as an agent for change with proven experience of advocacy, lobbying and negotiating skills; an understanding of technical, social and institutional issues relating to Sexual Health & Reproductive rights.
•   Excellent personal, communication skills, including tact and diplomacy when dealing with potentially difficult and sensitive issues; A creative, innovative leader who embraces diversity and change; Tencity, integrity, and positive motivational approach to people management and development.
