An International Health non-governmental organization implementing USAID Focus Region Health Projects with offices in Accra and other regions of Ghana is seeking qualified, motivated and experienced professionals to join its staff.

The project aims to strengthen access, quality and use of health services and to improve the health systems supporting these services. The project works closely with Ghanaian health institutions as well as the private sector and supports their activities for building sustainable capacity at the health facility level.

Position: Senior Programme Officer

The Senior / Programme Officer's priorities include development and implementation of plans and budgets, monitoring and evaluation processes and systems and fulfilling USAID reporting requirements for the project. It is expected that the senior / programme officer should be physically living in the area of his/her duty post

Specifc Responsibilities Include

•   Provide leadership and strategic direction for all private sector activities under the Project
•   Liaise with the regional offices and district level coordinators to ensure effective synchronisation in the planning, implementation and evaluation of all programme activities under the portfolio at the regional level (Greater Accra, Central and Western)
•   Conduct assessments of private sector options in the three regions particularly in reference to the urban CHPS model and launch and roll out activities in all regions
•   Explore options for performance-based financing application to private sector (e.i private midwives association).
•   Serve as a technical representative on private sector involvement and community development to programme partners, Ghanaian government agencies, GHS, USAID, NGO, the private sector and other stakeholders
•   Support preservice institutions (nursing / community health and midwifery) curriculum updates, preceptor and practical training strengthening

Qualification Required & Experience

•   Experience working in health management and planning
•   Proven ability to manage health systems
•   Strong working knowledge of Ghanaian health management systems
•   Experience designing and implementing health care programmes
