Background
The Partner Ghana programme links UK and Ghanaian secondary schools for educational partnerships of mutual benefit. We believe strongly that, in order to prepare young people to become responsible, global citizens, it is vital to give students a chance to interact and learn together with their peers from all over the world. These experiences encourage tolerance, openness and a spirit of cooperation for a better world. The Partner Ghana programme is fully supported and involves teacher exchange visits, student visits/expeditions, resources, training and advice to support both schools to build an equitable, sustainable relationship.

Main Role / Purpose

The Manager is responsible not only for managing all the partnership education elements UK relationships and activities within the Partner Ghana programme, but is also responsible for managing the flow of information across all digital media and promoting the benefit of the programme to a wider audience. The manager will provide support to teacher reciprocal visits and student visits as well as oversee the development of new initiatives to compliment the programme. The manager will lead, train and empower a small team of locally based but experienced staff.

Main Responsibilities

Key areas of responsibility are:

1) Promotion & School Recruitment

•   Supervise engagement with MEOs to identify suitable Ghanaian schools for partnerships, and oversee application process and partnership matching process.
•   Network with British Council offices, other NGOs and GoG to promote programme and possible collaboration opportunities.
•   Write quarterly progress reports for presentation to the Education Office, Department of Social Welfare and PG-UK.

2) Programme Delivery

•   Oversee communications with Ghanaian schools and stakeholders, develop communications strategy and build capacity of team to deliver termly newsletters and manage social media platforms.
•   Ensure consistent, appropriate training and support to all UK & Ghana Link Teachers. This will involve a yearly training day in the UK and termly training in Ghana.
•   Assist with grant & visa application processes and travel arrangements for Teacher Reciprocal Visits (TRV) for UK and Ghanaian schools.
•   Ensure effective inductions & preparation for travelling teachers in and out of Ghana.
•   Ensure programme content is inline with Ghana Education Service agenda and confirm where it fits into the curriculum.
•   Continually monitor the Development Education sector to inform and be informed.
•   Ensure the students visit programme is delivered as required, liaising with PG-UK and partners for trip logistical support.
•   Support team to develop and deliver annual facilitated shared learning exchange and class-to-class skype exchanges for all partnerships.
•   Together with Programme Director (UK) and School Partnership Coordinator (Ghana), review and develop partnership support materials, curriculum templates and schools-facing online resource centre.

3) Staff Capacity Building

•   Review working practices and implement training and feedback system to build capacity of School Partnership Coordinator and Partnership Team Administrator to effectively deliver programme

4) Monitoring and Evaluation

•   Implement and enhance evaluation of the programme.
•   Evaluate & suggest improvements to programme, student & teacher reciprocal visits.
•   Ensure reporting is coordinated from Ghana & UK accurately & submitted on time.
•   Develop two themed study papers each year which reinforce the value of the programme to the Ghanaian and UK education sector.

Qualification Required & Experience

Performance Review

A three month performance review will be carried out by a Director, this will assess performance against the personal targets and objectives agreed for that period. Other areas of consideration will be personal development and training requirements, and the setting of targets for subsequent reporting period.

The successful candidate will likely hold a University degree in a relevant discipline and have a strong track record (min 3 years experience) of working in the Education sector. This experience should be in the secondary system in Ghana/UK and should be inclusive of management experience.

•   Strong understanding of the Development Education and Secondary Education Sector in UK and Ghana.
•   Professional background in Education/NGO programme management.
•   Commitment to the Vision & Values of the Partner Ghana Programme.
•   Excellent team management and organisational skills.
•   Excellent communications & interpersonal skills & strong team player.
•   Good report and grant writing skills.
•   Dynamic self starter, able to work to pre-defined targets with minimal supervision.
•   Good networking skills and sense of humour.
•   IT skills and knowledge of website software and Open Office software.
•   Valid passport.
