Job Vacancy For Director of Communication and Dissemination At Ghana Statistics Service
Job Purpose
To provide strategic leadership, technical and operational direction for the implementation of the programmes and activities of the Communication and Dissemination Directorate.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Develops strategies for the marketing of GSS products
• Coordinates the organisation of statistical literacy programmes for key stakeholders and the general public
• Collates and harmonises the release calendar for the dissemination of economic, social and demographic statistics
• Validates social and demographic data generated in response to both internal and external requests
• Coordinates the finalisation of technical and administrative reports for printing
• Coordinates the updating of the indicators in the Ghana Info, Country Stat, Accelerated Data Programme (ADP), Census Info, Integrated Management Information System (IMIS) and other databases
• Coordinates the archiving of survey and census data and related documents
• Guides the design, management and updating of the content of the GSS website in consultation with IT and other relevant directorates
• Plans, coordinates and supervises GSS Press Releases, Press conferences & briefings, seminars, workshops and dissemination of all GSS publications and activities
• Designs and develops publicity materials for GSS
• Prepares and submits quarterly, annual and other periodic reports on the Communication and Dissemination
• Coordinates and supervises the processing, analysis and dissemination of statistics generated by the Resource and Data Centre of the Service
• Coordinates foreign travel and other protocol arrangements
• Ensures the proper documentation and maintenance of library and archival Materials of the Service
Qualification Required & Experience
• A minimum of a Master’s degree from an accredited tertiary institution in Statistics, Demography/Population Studies, Geography, Sociology, Economics, Mathematics or related fields
• Minimum of ten years relevant work experience, five years of which must be in a senior management position in a reputable statistical or research institution
