•   Position: Software Development Manager
•   Reports Directly To:  Managing Director

PURPOSE
To provide direction, coordination and supervision for the Software development activities of  the company

DUTIES

•   Directs the activities to establish all possible options for designing and delivering best solutions based on sound analytical judgment, team input and the customers best interest
•   Research new technologies that push the boundaries and capabilities of design and provide insight on applying these to available product offerings
•   Oversea the accountability for optimization-focused design to ensure that all code is written with high availability and high impact; accountable for efficiency focused design that serves to ensure that all codes is highly reusable and modular
•   Design push and pull data interfaces using the latest web and data sharing technologies integrated to a multitude of third party providers
•   Author technical design documentation that fully defines all application code and the underlying methodology for the design decisions made
•   Oversee the development of software according to functional and technical design specifications
•   Reports operational achievements and progress to immediate manager on a regular basis, including statistical analysis and improvement of action plans.
•   Prepares written operating documents such as policies and procedures, and reports.
•   Delivers yearly department performance agreed upon expectations.

SUPERVISORY DUTIES

•   Supervises immediate subordinates to ensure that time, quality and other set standards are adhered to.
•   Handles problems of immediate subordinates and (where necessary) consults with appropriate departments.
•   Sets performance targets and conducts performance review and end-of-year appraisal for immediate subordinates.
•   Identifies the training needs of immediate subordinates and organizes or recommends appropriate training for them.
•   Administers disciplinary measures to immediate subordinates in accordance with the company’s disciplinary code and procedure.

Qualification Required & Experience

Position requires:

•   At least a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Software development with
•   A minimum of 5 years hands-on experience.

Certification
Project Management  , MCSE

Technical Competencies

•   Thorough knowledge of MS SQL server database, Microsoft. Net technology
•   Thorough knowledge of PHP,  XML, Java etc
•   Skilled in the use of financial domain packages.
•   Ability to use MS Visual Basic 6.0 and MS SQL server
•   Personality Competencies: (i.e. major personality attributes required for the position)
•   Ability to handle conflict, confrontation and delicate interpersonal situations in such a manner as to solve the problem and sustain positive relationship
•   Ability to cope with work, time and people pressure
•   Ability to disclose feelings, thoughts and views frankly without hostility
•   Ability to hold self and others accountable
•   Managerial Competencies: (i.e. major managerial skills/knowledge required for the position)
•   Ability to recognize and reward achievements or take disciplinary action  where necessary
•   Ability to provide guidance and support to staff enabling them to get on with the job
•   Ability to provide clear direction to staff, specifying what is expected and linking jobs to business objective
•   Ability to develop cooperation among subordinates
•   Ability to follow up and monitor performance of subordinates
•   Ability and /or willingness to document, where necessary, sub-standard behavior of performance
•   Ability to take timely decisions
•   Ability to prepare written documents including policies and procedures; and effective reports, letter and memos
