Job Vacancy For Director of Technical Services At Ghana AIDS Commission



JOB PURPOSE

•   To plan, coordinate and oversee the technical dimensions of the overall national response including prevention and control of HIV and AIDS, clinical care and support of key populations and people living with HIV and programmes aimed at reducing the socio-economic Impact of the epidemic.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

•   Advises the Commission on the development of the epidemic and its consequences relating to intervention strategies for the prevention, treatment and care of PLHIV and key populations.
•   Establishes technical priorities in order to use available resources most effectively
•   Provides leadership in the coordination of key partners local and international to ensure harmonization and alignment for a sustainable national response
•   Provides overall coordination among all decentralized impIementers via the
•   Technical Support Units and Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies to ensure cost-effectiveness and avoid duplication
•   Identifies needs for technical assistance for the national HIV response and coordinate its implementation
•   Provides strategic technical oversight into the planning and co-ordination of the preparation of technical reports on Implementation of the operational plans
•   Establishes strong linkages with Ministries, Depat1ments and Agencies as well as the private sector and other allied institutions, locally and internationally, to promote effective execution of the technical functions of the Commission
•   Co-ordinates and liaises with the health sector (MOH/GHS/NACP) in the planning and review of technical services related to prevention, treatment, care and support for PLHIV and key populations
•   Identifies needs for technical and medical support for treatment of PLHIV and key populations.
•   Leads technical working groups to provide information on best technical and clinical practice, and makes materials available to ensure sufficient coverage and quality of Interventions.
•   Analyses policies, strategies, procedures and dates provided by Policy and Planning Division, and advises on intervention areas that need review.
•   Provides support in the monitoring and evaluation of technical sub-projects executed by implementing partners.
•   Supports the development and promotion of I ECIBCC materials.
•   Represents the Ghana AIDS Commission at technical fora organised for deliberations on topical technical matters.
•   Support resource mobilization by actively participating in providing technical assistance in proposal development.

Qualification Required & Experience

•   Must have a postgraduate degree in Medicine, Public Health, Laboratory Science. or any of the Health Sciences with knowledge of the epidemiology of HIV/AIDS, its treatment and clinical management.
•   A minimum of ten (10) years relevant post-qualification working experience in the public, private or the NGO sectors. five (5) years of which should have been in senior management position.
•   Must have effective leadership and analytical skills, and should have a considerable technical knowledge and commitment to HIV/AIDS issues.
•   Must be proficient in the use of computer and internet
