Job Vacancy For Communications and Outreach Associate At Agribiz Africa
Project Communications:
Since their inception, the ATP and E-ATP projects have identified strong and focused communications and outreach activities as essential in creating knowledge, visibility, and effective regional presence of the project, and communicating project activities and achievements to key stakeholders across the region, including USAID. ATP and E-ATP are recruiting a full-time Communications and Outreach Associate to join an existing communications and outreach team as project activities, achievements, and audiences continue to expand across the region. The Communications and Outreach Associate will provide further support to the development and implementation of the end-of-year communications strategy that will communicate project activities and achievements to both USAID and specific stakeholder audiences across the West Africa region.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Communications and Outreach Associate will be based in the project office in Accra, Ghana, with periodic travel within West Africa. She/he will join, on a full time basis, the communications staff based in Accra in designing/implementing a high-quality communications strategy in order to express effectively and efficiently project achievement to strategic stakeholders.
Specific tasks include:
• Develop and execute communications materials, including case studies, success stories, press releases, newsletter articles, speeches, project briefs, standard presentations and other documents in support of ATP and E-ATP
• Work on implementing tasks in communications strategy with project staff as a member of the technical team working with other component leads as necessary. This will involve frequent trips to the field in and out of the country to work with clients outside of Accra
• Develop and maintain working relationships with television, newspapers, radio, and other media outlets in project countries
• Gather various types of information and documentation, which may include use of camera and video camera
• Oversee planning, scheduling, logistics and execution of complex communications events, such as press conferences, speeches, briefings, etc
• Oversee key project relationships related to marketing and communications, including relationships with key partners, clients, and the governments of project countries
• Respond to routine and non-routine enquiries about ATP and E-ATP, requiring extensive knowledge of ATP and E-ATP materials and activities
• Edit the work of others to professional written communication standards
• Develop, maintain, and update project website content, ensuring the website accurately reflects the projects' recent activities, reports, findings and successes
• Maintain e-mail contact list (including media, client, partners, etc.) for the wide distribution and outreach of website, newsletter and other project materials
• Monitor and maintain media coverage of the project

Qualification Required & Experience
• Minimum of a first degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Media Relations
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in Communications, Journalism, Media, or Public Relations
• Understanding of and willingness to learn about ATP and E-ATP's objectives. Knowledge of social, political and development issues of the region
• Excellent oral/written communications skills in English; French language skills highly desirable
• Strong organizational and presentation skills
• Demonstrated skills in communications with an ability to gain access to media by making ATP and E-ATP newsworthy
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with key partners including USAID, the media, producer associations, buyers and others
• Ability to manage the media in both Francophone and Anglophone contexts
• Strong computer skills, including Internet, PowerPoint, etc. Basic website editing skills
• Strong interpersonal communication skills
• Willingness to travel and work in countries covered by the project
