Job Vacancy For Coordinator of TVET for Persons with Disability At COTVET



COTVET was set up by an Act of Parliament to formulate national policies on skills development across pre-tertiary and tertiary education, in both the formal and non formal sectors of the economy. COTVET is also to co-ordinate, harmonize and supervise the activities of private and public providers of technical and vocational education and training (TVET), including apprenticeship

Job Purpose

To plan, organise, coordinate and monitor participation of persons with disability (PWDs) in TVET, implement policies aimed at promoting increased entry of PWDs in appropriate TVET programmes, monitor compliance of TVET institutions with laws regarding PWDs to remove barriers to PWDs’ participation in TVET and to report on the state of PWDs’ participation in TVET.

Duties and Responsibilities

•   Collaborates with the National Council for Persons with Disability and other related bodies to initiate development of COTVET’s short, medium and long term strategic plans for participation of PWDs in TVET.
•   Reviews TVET policies and practices that create barriers for PWDs’ participation in TVET and recommend policy initiatives and changes to remove identified barriers.
•   Monitors statistical reports and identifies trends for PWDs participation in TVET and make recommendation for pro-active interventions where appropriate.
•   Establishes networks with TVET institutions to promote increased entry of PWDs into appropriate TVET programmes.
•   Liaise with the National Council for Persons with Disability and other related bodies to promote employment of more PWDs.
•   Promote the integration of PWDs into the labour market for self-employment.
•   Performs any other duties assigned by Supervisor.

Qualification Required & Experience

•   A minimum of first degree from an accredited tertiary institution in the Social Sciences, Education or relevant field. A Master’s degree will be an advantage
•   A minimum of five (5) years relevant work experience in implementing TVET for PWD programmes and performing advocacy functions
