Abosso Goldfields Ltd (AGL, a subsidiary of Gold Fields Limited, is a world-class operation, consisting of large-scale open pit and CIL Metallurgical. The operation has a mining rate around 24 Mtpa and a processing rate of 4.2 Mtpa. The mine is situated in a tropical climate in the Western Region of Ghana.

Purpose of the job:

The protection Service Department is seeking to appoint a dedicated, committed and self motivated individual for the position of Protection Services Superintendent.  The successful candidate will be responsible for all security management systems, processes, policies and resources provided in order to protect lives and assets of the company. He/ She will also be required to provide the necessary operational support for the achievements of both departmental and organizational goals and objectives.

Key responsibilities:

•   Assist in the formulation and implementation of all security policies/ procedures, and ensure full compliance with Mining Regulations
•   Ensure consistent improvement in security deliverables
•   Initiate and monitor preventive and precautionary measures to stop criminal activities on the mine
•   Assist with Performance Management, training and development of all employees in the department
•   Handle department complaint, discipline and grievance
•   Provide advice to stakeholders based on intelligence gathered from investigations
•   Compile and submit monthly reports and review budget on monthly basis
•   Ensure compliance with OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001 requirement s and standards
•   Adhere to company principles, ethics and values with integrity

Qualification Required & Experience

•   A relevant tertiary qualification from a recognized institution
•   Have at least ten years relevant security experience at management level
•   In-depth knowledge on investigative and reporting skills
•   Proven leadership, interpersonal and organizational skills with high level of integrity and the ability to interact with people of diverse cultures
•   Comprehensive security knowledge and experience in mining operations
•   Excellent presentation skills
•   Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
•   Medically and physically fit for the position, and environment
