A small, fast growing Ghanaian company, providing advisory services in the agricultural, natural resources and environmental sectors is seeking an enthusiastic and hardworking professional for the position of Programme Officer.

Responsibilities

The position holder will explore avenues for new businesses, develop winning proposals, market company's services, provide training to farmers and companies, manage projects, perform administrative duties and provide technical advice and support to farmers in the cultivation and marketing of vegetables, cereals and legumes.

Qualification Required & Experience

•   Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, graduate degree desirable
•   At least 3 - 5 years relevant experience in providing technical advice to farmers experience in providing practical training to farmers in good agricultural practices, HACCP and general quality assurance, experience in Global GAP auditing is desirable
•   Excellent English writing skills and demonstrated experience in writing proposals
•   Experience in managing agricultural projects and farmer based organisations, organising workshops, managing dry season irrifated farming of vegetables and other crops, and addressing farmers problems in the agricultural value chain
•   Experience in conducting survey research, needs assessments, short studies, mid-term reviews and monitoring and evaluation of projects
•   Ability to work in teams, pay attention to detail and learn in order to meet company goals and standards
•   Proficiency in the use of MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint, innovativeness, readiness to take initiative, spirit of involvement and responsibility, readiness to work in small but fast growing company of only five employees, collaborative urge with company consultants, good report writing skills and ability to meet tight deadlines
•   Experience or interested in sustainability and business issues in forestry, environmental management and impact assessment, fisheries and water resources, food safety, climate change and carbon offset related projects
•   Readiness to spend 30% of the time in the northern part of the country to advice farmers on company's projects and work on other assigned duties

Location: This position is based in Accra but 30% of the time will be spend in the field assisting farmers.
