Job Vacancy For Chief Operating Officer (COO) At UDF Micrifinance Limited



The Chief Operating Officer (COO) position is a senior leadership position and the incumbent is expected to be a true relationship manager, serving as a role model and a coach within the company and demonstrating ability to recognize and respond to business opportunities, while delivering the desired client experience. The COO must be entrepreneurial in spirit and motivated by the opportunity to manage operations of the business as if it was his/her own. The COO will oversee all core business operations, origination and client acquisition including lending, deposits mobilization and other products development and marketing. Other responsibilities include policy development, deployment of appropriate operational systems and structures and risk management functions. S/he will ensure that the company’s product offering are competitive, and that outreach and profitability performance targets are met. The COO is also responsible for ensuring that core business personnel are adequately trained and operate at a high standard of technical competency. As a member of the Management Team, the COO will support the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) in providing strategic leadership for the organization by working with the team to establish long-term strategic goals, plans and policies, and shares responsibility for the overall performance and activities of the company.

Qualification Required & Experience

To perform this role successfully, the incumbent must possess combination of the experience, education, and training listed below:

•   Relevant academic/ professional qualification in areas such as finance, economics, commerce, business administration, accounting, statistics, sociology, among others;
•   At least 6 years of managerial experience in branch operations, credit and/or risk assessment plus additional knowledge in marketing, product management, field work, training & sales in a commercial or community banking environment;
•   Passion for work in low-income communities, experience managing direct reports in responsible investing and/or community lending, and a track record of strong relationship development and management.
•   Strong understanding of retail and/or community banking practices with ability to drive growth and motivate others to achieve results.
•   Demonstrated strong practical as well as leadership and coaching/mentoring skills (team building, identify strengths and weaknesses, motivating staff, etc.)
•   Strong communication skills including proficiency in English (spoken and written) plus excellent local language skills.
•   Solution- and result-oriented approach accompanied by analytical thinking.
•   Good command of MS Excel and MS Word, and other banking applications.
•   The passion for motivating others to achieve results, with the commitment to creating an ultimate experience for clients.
