Job Summary

•   The Credit Program Officer is responsible for the company’s lending activities and will manage and oversee the company’s loan and other credit portfolio activities.
•   S/he will also perform credit analysis for new loan and other credit requests and will assist Senior Management in the development of new program initiatives.
•   S/he will also carry out other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Chief Executive Officer.

Key Responsibilities;

•   Perform credit risk assessment of individual request/ proposals in line with the company’s risk management policies and procedures;
•   Take primary responsibility for originating, coordinating and monitoring loan facilities and other credit targets;
•   Portfolio level analysis through key risk metrics, continuous investments monitoring and reporting;
•   Analyze financial statements, management profiles, business/product cycles historical operating performance, and cash flow ability to develop an assessment of credit risk;
•   Evaluate exit opportunities when they arise;
•   Manage collections and recoveries;
•   Research and evaluate potential new investment opportunities and develop new loan products and lending programs;
•   Inform investment decisions with sector, region and social impact information;
•   Serving as a member of the company’s credit and risk management team; and
•   Work collaboratively and in conjunction with the other members of the team to prepare annual budgets, review financial performance, reporting portfolio performance to the board of directors.

The incumbent must possess combination of the experience, education, and training listed below which provides an equivalent background required to perform the work of this position.

Qualification Required & Experience

•   Relevant academic/ professional qualification in business or finance including commerce, banking, accountancy, risk management, economics, statistics, among others
•   significant knowledge in lending techniques, credit resolutions, banking/lending laws, and regulations
•   Skills in financial analysis and forecasting,personal finance including informal wealth management and community development
•   At least 5 years of lending experience, ideally within a commercial , investment or community banking environment, with knowledge of business lending products and services and commercial credit standards
•   Experience in loan origination, due diligence, credit assessment and closing loans is required
•   Prior experience and/or demonstrated interest in grassroots economic empowerment including poverty alleviation and community development is an asset
•   Detail-orientation in setting priorities, handle multiple tasks, following-up on activities, and guiding others to meet agreed upon benchmarks and deadlines
•   Good interpersonal, written and verbal communication, and business relationship skills
•   Flexible and self-reliant personality with good intercultural skills
•   proven track record of successful development/management of commercial Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME), and community lending operations
•   Work easily with computer office software, specifically Microsoft Word and Excel; very strong Excel skills required
•   Work with individuals of diverse ethnic, economic, social and educational backgrounds; and
•   Display the characteristics of being a self?starter/initiator that can build strong relationships and move projects forward.
