The Planned Parenthood Association of Ghana (PPAG), An NGO and a Member of the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF), and a leading provider of Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) Education and Services, hereby invites result-oriented, dedicated and committed persons to apply for the following vacant position to be filled in the Association. PPAG works with a Child and Vulnerable Adults Rights Protection Policy that applies to all staff in the Association.
Job Purpose
To provide effective and quality service to the youth at the Young and Wise Centre and in the Community. The person will carry out the following duties in close cooperation with the Family Health Clinic, Accra and other stakeholders
Key Responsibilities
• Provide community-based services to the youth
• Assist the Project Officer and the Peer Educators during outreach sessions
• Discuss the benefits of SRH with potential acceptors, with special emphasis on the youth
• Attend to minor ailments
• Distribute contraceptives and provide other family planning services
• Prepare and follow an efficient referral system, where necessary
• Assist in the preparation of Half Year Reports and Annual Reports
• Liaise with other nurses and midwives to ensure that clinical standards are adhered to at the centre
• Prepare Annual Work Plan and Performance Appraisal
• Perform any other related duties as may be assigned by the immediate supervisor
Qualification Required & Experience
• Be a State Registered Nurse, a trained Midwife or Community Health Nurse, With a minimum of three (3) years relevant working experience
• Must be willing to serve young people with youth friendly skills (Verbal and Written)
• High sense of responsibility and be willing to work under pressure
• Have a good knowledge in the use of computer
• Have analytical and judgmental skills
• Ability to work independently with little or no supervision
• Have the ability to work under pressure and for long hours
• Must be a team player and be able to take initiatives
• Ability to travel at short notices
