Job Summary
• Provide environmental advice and support to all departments on the Project site to ensure compliance with standard environmental policies and procedures, Ghanaian laws and regulations, and other applicable international standards;
• Prepare external environmental reports to EPA, Minerals Commission, and others as required;
• Ensure environmental programs for waste handling, sediment control, air quality, water quality among others are conducted to satisfy high environmental quality standards set by the company and regulatory authorities;
• Manage the collection, storage, and interpretation of environmental monitoring data as required in the company's Environmental Management Plan including; water quality, air quality, noise, meteorological, hydrology and hydrologic monitoring programs;
• Coordinate with Mining department to develop and implement action plan for improving drilling and blasting Practices;
• Conduct quality assurance/control on data generated from monitoring and laboratories analysis and ensure compliance with Environment Unit QA/QC program;
• Develop and implement environmental performance metrics;
• Prepare required documents or reports to satisfy corporate, legal and regulatory reporting
• Perform any other related duties that may be assigned from time to time by Manager
Qualification Required & Experience
• BSc. in Environmental Management or other science related field such as Geology, chemistry, or engineering;
• At least 5 years environmental working experience in mining or related industry, 3 of which must be in similar positions;
• Demonstrate understanding of Ghanaian Environmental Regulations as they apply to mining operations;
• Demonstrate understanding of ISO14001 Environmental Management Standards.
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills;
• Strong computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, database management and GIS experience
