The Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet) invites applications from suitably qualified Ghanaians who are goal-oriented, result-driven with exceptional leadership qualities for appointment into the position of Director General

Object Of the Position:
To direct in the provision of meteorological information to the general public for the protection of life and property from weather and climate related hazards, and ensure the provision of specialized weather information in support of activities of sectors such as agriculture, aviation, water resources management and the construction industry.

Duties And Responsibilities:

•   Direct work of the Agency, subject to general directives as may be given by the Board.
•   Carry out the day-to-day administration and management of the
•   Agency, and ensure the implementation of the decisions of the Board.
•   Initiate action on policies relating to the strategic direction of the Agency for the Board's consideration.
•   Enforce the rules, regulations and procedures prescribed by the World Meteorological Organization (WMO).
•   Advise the Board on the management of the National Meteorological Fund.
•   Serve as the Permanent Representative of Ghana with the WMO.
•   Coordinate the relationship of the Agency with other national and relevant inter-governmental organisations.
•   Submit annual and other periodic reports covering the activities and operations of the Agency to the Board.

Renumeration:
The Agency offers a competitive remuneration package within the public sector

Qualification Required & Experience

•   A minimum of a  Master's Degree in  Meteorology or Climate Science from a recognised university.
•   A minimum of fifteen (15) years post First degree qualification and working experience, five (5) of which must be in a senior management position.
•   A demonstrated ability to provide inspiring leadership, and to market service.
•   A certificate in Public Administration or Management would be an advantage.
•   The successful applicant should be able to serve a minimum of three (3) years before attaining the compulsory retiring age of sixty (60).
