Abt Associates is a mission-driven, global leader in research and programme implementation in the fields of health, social and environmental policy and international development. The Trade Hub and African Partners Network is a USAID project that will help West African farmers and firms compete, attract investment to the region, and boost regional trade and global trade with the rest of the world.

The project based in Accra, Ghana - with satellite offices in Dakar, Senegal and Ouagadougou.

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the value chain Development Specialist, the Export Value Chain Assistant (EVCA) will be the administrative and logistical contact for the Trade Hub with the following Regional Partners: Africa Cashew Alliance  (ACA), Global Shea Alliance (GSA), African Association of Agro-Export (AAFEX).

Responsibilities include

•   Monitor the Trade Hub's approved work plan, especially with regard to the timing of specific activities with the regional patners. Ensure any required logistical support for activities is available, working in coordination with the admin and technical teams.
•   Work with the Trade Hub's communication specialist to identify and prepare case studies and success stories of Trade Hub activities with the regional partners.
•   Research other initiatives that are being implemeted within the Trade Hub's targeted value chains at the regional level that could complement the Trade Hub's programme
•   Other activities in support of these partners and the Trade Hub programme as identified by the value chain lead
•   Periodic travel in the region as required

Desired Qualification

•   Highly motivated self-starter with a proven history of dynamic performance
•   Proven ability to network, work in teams and help build credibility

Qualification Required & Experience

•   University degree in business, marketing, communications, or equivalent business experience
•   Minimum of 2 years of previous experience in the agribusiness private sector, knowledge of the cashew, shea or mango sectors desirable
•   Previous experience with USAID projects desirable
•   Good writing and communication skills
•   High degree of proficiency in use of MS Office suite
•   Fluency in French will be an added advantage
