Job Vacancy For Programme Officer At World Food Programme



Under the direct supervision of the Head of Programme, the Progrmme Officer will be responsible for the following duties:

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

•   Take a key role to work in the area of resilience building for food and nutrition insecure people through community asset creation activities with an emphasis on community participatory based planning and integration of other programme interventions related to food security and nutrition specific and sensitive that WFP  provides  support to;  on-going social  protection interventions and safety nets such as home grown school feeding programme, LEAP,  nutrition  interventions in  order to  optimize the  impact of WFP assistance for sustainable resilience against shocks for the vulnerable.
•   Propose  innovative approaches;  draft  project documents  and funding proposals for submission to potential donors.
•   Provide support in forging partnership with government institutions, development partners, UN agencies and local and international NGOs for complementary actions to maximize the impact and achieve designed project outcomes.
•   Assist in identifying new ways of delivering assistance to beneficiaries and give assistance in planning, formulating, and targeting recipients for new requests for WFP assistance.
•   Take the key roie in working with the Sub-office, local government and implementing partners to plan for yearly calendar of seasonal activities.
•   Liaise with project implementing partners and undertake visits to view project outputs and beneficiaries, in order to ensure that progress is made in the achievement of project objectives.
•   Programme resources received for project activities and keep tracking of expenditures and ensuring meeting the deadlines.
•   Prepare periodical progress reports for donors and ensure that reports are accurate and provided as scheduled.
•   Prepare annual corporate reports on the progress of operational projects.

Qualification Required & Experience

•   University degree in Economics, Agriculture, Business Administration, Development and Social Protection or Food and Nutrition Security related field.
•   At least three years of relevant and demonstrated professional work experience in the field of humanitarian or developmental assistance. Good skills in drafting project proposal and presentation. Experience in working with UN agencies is an advantage.
•   Good knowledge of Off ice package (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
•   Fluency in both written and oral English.
