Job Vacancy For Assistant Country Manager At CSIR-Food Research Institute



Duties and Responsibilities:

To assist the Country Manager in carrying out the following duties:

Planning:

•   Working with the Project Management Team, contribute to the annual work plan and budgeting process; including drafting of TORs for sub-contracts/sub-grantee and receiving reports from sub-contractors/sub-grantees.
•   Working with the Project Directorate to prepare and agree quarterly work plans and budgets,
•   Agreeing targets for achievement and performance with the Project Directorate,
•   Liaising with other similar projects being implemented through the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and others to ensure that inputs are coordinated as far as possible and desirable.

Management and Technical:

•   Constitute an internal FR1 Advisory Committee to advise the Country Manager on the implementation of the project
•   Working with Project Implementation partners, coordinate and manage all of the implementation process in Ghana,
•   Ensure good interaction and linkages with other related projects and programmes both nationally and internationally
•   Oversee at the national level the monitoring and evaluation systems
•   Ensuring that contractual and financial management systems are followed and ensure that procurement and sub-acting procedures at the country level are being undertaken in a timely and compliant fashion,
•   Providing technical advice and inputs as required,
•   Ensuring that targets for performance and attainment are achieved,
•   Supervise the Business Development Expert and other project management staff as well as support staff.

Reporting:

•   Preparing concise monthly operational reports for the Project Directorate Office.
•   Provide inputs into the six monthly and annual reports of the overall activities in Ghana.
•   Provide the Project Directorate Team with such information as required for effective implementation of the project

Reports to: CAVA II Ghana Country Manager

Qualification Required & Experience

•   A Masters 'degree in Agri-Business, Management, Agric Economics or other related fields
•   At least 2 years experience in project management
•   At least 2 years experience of work in the cassava value chain or a cassava related project
•   Experience with fiscal discipline in previous roles required
•   Demonstrated knowledge of the constraints of working with smallholder farmers who provide raw materials for industrial processing is important
