Job Vacancy For Finance Officer At Solidaridad West Africa (SWA) – (Kumasi)
Solidaridad West Africa is a not-for-profit organization that supports the sustainable development of farmers and production systems in West Africa, through the enhancement of value chains of fresh and processed agricultural commodities and other non-agricultural commodities.
Our activities in West Africa are focused on fresh fruits, oil palm, gold, cotton, maize, soy and cocoa.
As the Regional Expertise Center (REC) within Solidaridad’s international network, we are part of a growing global movement advocating and supporting sustainable and responsible production and trade.
Solidaridad trains producers in best practices to produce more with less. We provide capacity building to producer organizations and enable them to access knowledge, inputs, finance and markets.
We develop and promote the integration of good economic, social and environmental management into standard business and production practices.
Solidaridad regional office is based in Accra, Ghana and currently has program activities and operations in Senegal, Mali, Cote D’Ivoire, Nigeria, Ghana and Cameroon
Job Summary
The Finance and Administration Officer must be resident in KUMASI.
Specific duties and responsibilities include:
Finance
• Monitor incomes (mainly transfers from Accra), expenditures and undertake monthly bank reconciliation
• Prepare journals and make entries into the tally accounting software in a timely manner
• Keep relevant books and records for all financial transactions in accordance with SWA standard procedures
• Maintains daily cash book and notify the Finance Manager when there are likely to be cash shortages.
• Producing weekly cash in hand reconciliation and making deposit of cash collected from retirement of working advances
• Ensure that banking arrangements are adequate to support the operational activities and that all bank transactions conform to agreed procedures and are appropriately documented
• Raise payment request with respect to project being implemented from Kumasi office (e.g.
• Cocoa Sustainability Projects, MasterCard Foundation in future)
• Prepare confirmation notices for all transfers lodged into Kumasi accounts either from Accra office or directly from donors.
• Maintain a sub- assets register of the office and for specific projects that are assigned.
• Prepare Cocoa Sustainability projects financial reports in a timely manner as agreed with project financiers for review by the Finance Manager.
• Assist during annual corporate or specific project level audits.
• Assist in the preparation of budget and annual plans.
• Other financial duties as may become necessary and directed by the Finance Manager.
Qualification Required & Experience
• HND/1st Degree in Accounting and partly qualified in any of the following; ACCA, ICA, CIMA
• At least 3 years of professional working experience in a similar position
• Competent in the use of IT-based accounting programs such as tally etc.,
• Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office (particularly excel and Outlook)
• Team player, highly-motivated, self-starter, able to work independently, solve problems and meet deadlines.
