A reputable company in the oil and gas industry is seeking a qualified and competent individual who meets the requirements to apply for the following role:- General Manager, Business Services
Job Purpose:
The General Manager, Business Services is responsible for providing administrative support services to the company in order to effectively drive and improve the overall business operations and performance.
Key Responsibilities
• Create a vision and set objectives and strategies for all the units within the Business Services department
• Develop, and implement HR, IT, HSE, Corporate Communications, Procurement, Facilities & Fleet and Process improvement strategies to meet the operational and financial objectives of the company.
• Gain buy-in on an organisation-wide basis & oversee the implementation of systems, processes and policies which meet the needs of individual units within the organization
• Influence business and technology change to use technology as an enabler to work effectively and efficiently across the organization
• Direct and manage facilities and ensure all buildings are maintained to the company's standards
• Perform property inspections, and improvement plans and implement inventory systems to track and manage facilities efficiently.
• Develop and implement a strategy for the replacement and maintenance of all fleet
• Provide counsel, guidance and education to manage in all areas of human resources management, ensuring consideration of Human resources policies and applicable employment laws and the creation of an environment of choice and employee engagement
• Lead management in a proactive manpower planning process to ensure the appropriate numbers and quality of staff are available to support the company, current needs and growth plans
• Facilitate and present educational programs to management staff to promote leadership development such as HSE compliance, orientation and leadership development, ensuring that these programs link into other leadership initiatives
• Champion models, and promote service excellence philosophies and behaviors at the work place
• Conceive and develop strategies to integrate corporate communications tools(print and electronic) into a cohesive and consistent plan
• Direct the development of core corporate communications materials, including press materials, key message platforms, company presentations, standby and position statements, photo and video library, media lists, web site etc.
• Conduct assessments of potential issues facing the company and create strategies to anticipate and mitigate issues
• Direct and manage media outreach to leverage local community relations, social responsibility and diversity projects
• Lead on all operational, technical and developmental activities, championing a culture of continuous improvement
• Lead complex cross-functional process identification and definition projects
• Ensure the efficient and effective utilization of administrative assistants and evaluate their performance
Qualification Required & Experience
• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Finance, Business Administration, Economics
• MBA from a recognized University
• 15 years working experience with 8 plus years of related professional experience
• 5 years management experience
• Proven strategic planning, media relations and issues/crisis management skills are essential
• Demonstrating safety leadership and promoting a safety culture amongst all staff
• Ability to effectively influence at all levels both internally and externally
• Demonstrate ability to overseeing vendore relationships (to include business reviews, cost and risk containment, and quality service)
• Demonstrated financial management skills
• Execution skills including persistent drive for results utilizing sound project management, organizational and problem solving skills
• Strategic thinking skills including an ability to make sound business judgements related to strategic supply philosophies and initiatives
• Technical skills including solid negotiation skills, excellent knowledge of operations management and supply chain processes in a large organization
• Proven record of providing excellent internal and external customer service, driving complex work efforts and delivering results
• Ability to work under tight timelines, in what can b a stressful environment with limited planning or preparation
• Complex problem solving and strong conflict avoidance and resolution skills required
• Must have a strong reputation for customer focus
• Strong communication skills-oral, written and presentation
