The U.S. Embassy in Accra, Ghana is seeking an individual for the position of GENERATOR MECHANIC FOREMAN in the Facilities Maintenance Office of the Embassy.

BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION
•  Incumbent performs supervisory role and coordinates activities of all tradesmen in his/her team engaged in installation, maintenance and repair works in all the mission offices, residencies and grounds are done to specifications. Also maintains all records of work assignment, interprets blueprints, buildings plan, manufactures specifications, instruction and security regulations to workers and enforces adherence to safety regulations.
•  The incumbent works as a generator mechanic, receiving verbal instructions or work orders concerning job to performed, and proceeds to accomplish the necessary maintenance. Reads specifications, using proper tools and checking all work for completion; Examines equipment or makes diagnostic tests to determine the nature and extent of work necessary; Disassembles equipment and adjusts repairs or replaces defective parts or components to correct malfunctions. Periodically inspects tests, cleans and services equipment. May drive a vehicle to the job-site and/ or supervise a trades helper. May perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualification Required & Experience

•  Completion of Technical or Vocational training in mechanics (Generator) and or completion of a Secondary School is required.
•  One to three years working experience on generators or in a mechanical engineering environment of which one year should be at the supervisory level is required. Experience must be on multiple types of generators.
•  Level III (Good working knowledge) in English is required. Good working knowledge of the written and spoken language. Job holder will be able to prepare correspondence and standardized reports and communicate with staff and members of the public in the language. Language proficiency will be tested.
•  Must know how to use the tools of the trade, and have full journeyman mechanic knowledge of established trade practices and procedures.
•  Must possess and provide a copy of a valid local driver’s license minimum of Class B. Driving skills will be tested. Must have basic computer skills with experience with Microsoft office applications. Typing and computer skills will be tested.
Salary: GH¢21,415.00 p.a. (Starting salary)
