Description Of Job
CARE seeks a Grant Manager (GM) for an upcoming, four (4) year program in Ghana. This project has a heavy focus on providing technical expertise to the Ghana Education Service in early grade literacy and numeracy for primary school students.
The project aims to improve reading skills in 2 million primary students by 2016.
SUMMARY
The Grants Management Specialist will be responsible for overall leadership and management of contractual and financial functions of a large-scale education program and shall ensure adherence to CARE USA and USAID standards, policies and regulations.
The Grants Management Specialist will be responsible for designing and administering small grants to local organizations, and district and local level government and community bodies, building capacity financial and accounting systems, ensuring alignment with program objectives, and managing procurement systems across this program.
The Grants Management Specialist reports directly to the Chief of Party and is directly responsible for overseeing procurement support and administrative staff.

Qualification Required & Experience
• Masters in Finance/Accounting or equivalent.
• 10+ years’ experience working with international NGOs out of which 4-5 years in management positions with experience in Grants, Finance and Administration
• Experience with USAID funded programs/projects necessary
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, teamwork and leadership skills
• Excellent communication and report writing skills in English
• Solid computer skills in Word and Excel and experience with financial and other software (spreadsheets, accounting packages). With required skills in Quick Book accounting software.
• Ability to train and mentor staff on financial management.
• Ability to set priorities and manage time effectively
