Job Summary
CCA is implementing a five-year project, FOSTERING-Food Security through co-operative in Northern Ghana, funded by the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) and developed in partnership with SEND Ghana and the Ghana Co-operative Credit Union Association (CUA). The anticipated project will increase sustainable and gender equitable food security for over 42,000 men and women in eight districts in the Eastern Corridor of Northern Ghana.
CCA seeks to hire highly competent dynamic and experienced finance and administration officer for its operations in Northern Ghana Reporting to the Country Manager, he/she is responsible to ensure all administration, accounting and documentation of all financial transactions in timely and accurate manner. In addition, the finance officer will ensure CCA compliance of all financial expenses at the field level He'she is expected to provide ongoing support to CUA and SEND finance officers to help them comply with CCA requirements. Moreover, the F&A officer will work and collaborate with CCA senior finance office in Ottawa.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
• Adhere to CCA/DFATD mandated, procedures, reporting timelme and controls, mduding.
• Procurement. Asset Management, and Finance procedures.
• Administer and manage daily accounting and finance functions including the timely recording of transactions, cash management, banking, payroll, inventory, receivables and payables
• Implement and administer CCA systems for internal control, compliance and accounting data processing and financial reporting functions in accordance with CCA and DFATD regulations
• Assist CUA and SEND finance officers to fully comply with CCA financial procedures reporting requirement and deadline
• Ensure that all monthly and annual reports are fully completed and supported by all necessary documentation in line with CCA procurement
• Ensure that operational cash advance is maintained at a lowest level (200-300CAD) possible facilitating smooth program delivery
• Facilitate the weekly and monthly cash counts and reconciliations
• Responsible for proper filing of all receipts and documentation according to CCA procedures
• Conduct himself/herself both professionally and personally in such a manner as to bring credit to CCA and to not jeopardise its operations in Ghana.
• Do other duties as assigned
Qualification Required & Experience
Matching Indicators:
• At least first degree in accounting, mathematics or related discipline
• Minimum five years progressive work experience as an accounting officer.
• Strong understanding and knowledge of accounting system (eg. Quick books)
• Strong understanding of DFATD financial procedures is an asset
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to support, motivate subordinate and partners Experience in developing budget, annual and semi-annual financial reports
• Ability to work independently, set realistic goals, and work within agreed timelmes
