The U.S. Embassy in Accra, Ghana is seeking an individual for the position of ASSISTANT MAINTENACE SUPERVISOR (ELECTRICAL/MECHANICAL) in the Facilities Maintenance Section of the Embassy.

BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION
The incumbent under the supervision of the Facilities Maintenance Supervisor serves as an Assistant Maintenance Supervisor (Mechanical/Electrical). S/he supervises, monitors and coordinates activities of 4 maintenance foremen directly and 32 maintenance field technicians indirectly in the maintenance of 76 standby generators located at the various Mission residences as well as all Electricals at the Residences, including Air Conditioning and Plumbing works. S/he performs quality control inspections, scheduling and prioritizing work schedules involving trades that he directly supervises. Ensures that all work assigned are performed in a timely manner and enforces that all safety rules and regulations are adhered to. Oversees and directly supervises non-routine small construction projects with in-house work force; and perform all other duties as assigned.
Qualification Required & Experience

•  Completion of a three year diploma in Electrical or Mechanical trade is required.
•  Three to five years prior working experience on generators and electrical systems of which two years must be at a supervisory level.
•  Level III English required. Good working knowledge of written and spoken English. The job holder must be able to read, understand and interprets for example regulation, blue prints, manufacturer’s specifications, instructions and related material concerning the field of work. Also job holder must be able to prepare correspondence and standardized reports. Language proficiency will be tested.
•  General knowledge of Ghanaian guidelines concerning construction and maintenance practices. Must know how to use the tools of the trade, and have full journeyman mechanic knowledge of established trade practices and procedures.
•  Must be able to use standard tools of one or more building trades. Ability to read blueprints and interpret manufacturer’s instructions. Ability to do basic word processing and computer data entry. Must possess a valid Ghanaian driver’s License (Class B). Driving proficiency will be tested.
Salary: GH¢23,369.00 p.a. (Starting salary)
