Job Vacancy For University Registrar / Board Secretary At Regional Maritime University



Applications are invited from suitably qualified and interested nationals of the Republics of Cameroon, The Gambia, Ghana, Liberia and Sierra Leone to fill the following position at the Regional Maritime University, Accra, Ghana:

Job Purpose:

•   Provide leadership to plan, organize and manage all of the activities related to the Records and Registration of students, including serving as the official authorized keeper of the university's student records;
•   Responsible for Planning, Maintenance and Management of the administrative systems with optimum effectiveness of the University's resources.

Duties:

•   Act as Secretary to the Board of Governors, Academic Council and other statutory committees of the University.
•   Monitor, submit progress reports on implementation of Board decisions
•   Chief Scribe of the University
•   Work closely with the Provost in implementing the academic activities of the University
•   Responsible for initiating final graduation plans, the tabulation of classes. award or honours and the coordination of matriculation and congregation procedures and ceremonies.
•   Shall be custodian of the records, the common seal and such other property of the University as the Board and Management may commit to his/her charge.
•   Shall ensure timely processing of applications as well as accurate and effective communications of admissions decisions to applicants (The Registrar will thus provide support services to Joint Admissions Board under the chairmanship of the Provost).
•   Ensure appropriate information technology platform and applications in support of enhanced services offered to the University, especially through Students Registration, Records management, fees payment and data files within set policies and procedures for their responsible use.
•   Manage and ensure the integrity, accuracy, and security of all students and HR Administration records. Coordinate and plan manpower requirements in the University
•   Ensure efficient administration of the Performance Management System
•   Supervise the management of the University's medical scheme.
•   Facilitate the work of the appointments and promotions committee.
•   Ensure adherence to the Conditions of Service and Board and management decisions and policies.
•   Perform any other duties assigned from time to time.

SALARY: Salary attached to the posts is based on the RMU Integrated Salary Scale.

Qualification Required & Experience

•   A PhD in relevant field is an added advantage;
•   A Masters Degree in the Social Sciences or a related discipline OR professional qualification with a minimum of 10 years relevant post qualification experience, 7 years of which must be in senior management position

Other Qualities or Requirements

•   Persons of energy and integrity who will be responsible for leadership in planning, organizing, administering, and evaluating the overall objectives and programs of the University
•   Proven skills in networking and relationship building
•   A strong interpersonal, communication and diplomatic skills and etiquettes
•   Proven record of spoken and/or written French will be an added advantage
•   Ability to work in an international and multicultural context
•   Ability to work independently and proactively,
•   Must be self-disciplined and self-motivated.
