Position: Manager - Safety, Health and Security

Primary function will be the management of the mine’s health, safety and security programmes towards the goal of “ZERO HARM”

Key Responsibilities:

•   Ensures the achievement of high standards of performance by the Company in the management of health, safety and Security;
•   Analyzing trends and developing strategies to ensure continued improvement to OH&S performance;
•   Ensure OH&S practices are applied consistently and in accordance with agreed standards;
•   Leading a team of Health, safety, emergency response and security practitioners;
•   Providing guidance and direction to line management on all aspects of OH&S;
•   Ensuring all staff and business partners are appropriately trained in all areas of OH&S relevant to their roles;
•   Focusing on people and behavioral based safety programmes;
•   Ensuring all OH&S and related systems and practices comply with statutory and internal standards;
•   Ensure implementation of good security systems to protect people, assets and property;
•   Preparation and management of annual financial budgets for the OH&S function and contributing to the development of site operational and strategic plans.

Qualification Required & Experience

•   Must possess appropriate tertiary qualification, together with relevant certificate in Safety and Health management;
•   Minimum of seven (7) years proven experience in managing Safety and Health in the mining industry or similar environment;
•   Exposure to World best safety and health practices;
•   Demonstrate a passion for the attainment of “Zero Harm” in the workplace Directors: Ben Adoo (Executive Chairman), Greg McCunn, Peter Amponsah-Mensah, Josephat Zvaipa, (Managing Director) Continued….
•   Have demonstrated a track record of success in the mining industry as an OH&S professional in a leadership role;
•   Have well developed communication and organizing skills;
•   Demonstrate a sound understanding of leading and lagging indicators and how they can be usefully applied;
•   Possess sound interpersonal and leadership qualities, be prepared to challenge the status quo and initiate innovation in performance of duties;
•   Good computer skills in related applications;
•   Ability to communicate and liaise well with local communities and other stakeholders;
•   Planning organizing, problem solving and decision-­?making skills.
•   Ability to follow up, monitor people and work activities and processes, and take reinforcement or corrective actions.
•   Ability to work under pressure.
