The African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS,
www.aims.ac.za) is an innovative post-graduate centre for education, research and outreach has achieved global recognition since opening its first centre in South Africa in 2003. AIMS offers a number of educational programmes highlighted by its 10-month postgraduate Diploma in mathematical Sciences, which provides an intensive and broad education to over 50 top African students each year, and prepares them for leadership careers in academia, governance and industry. Based on the success of the first AIMS centre, the AIMS Next Einstein Initiative (AIMS-NEI,
www.nexteinstein.org) was launched with the mission of enabling Africa's brightest students to flourish as independent thinkers, problem solvers and innovators capable of propelling Africa's future scientific, educational and economic self-sufficiency. As part of this network, AIMS-Ghana has been created and is establishing itself in preparation for accepting its first batch of students in the 2012-13 academic year.
AIMS-Ghana will start its first academic year in August 2012, providing master's degrees to about 25 students from all over Africa.
Description Of Job
Duty Station: Initially in Tema, Accra (until Dec 31, 2012), and in Biriwa (Central Region) thereafter
Duration: 1 year, with extension depending on performance
Overall Objectives:
• All issues related to human resource are dealt with in an efficient and effective manner in accordance to Ghanaian laws and AIMS-Ghana HR manual;
• Establishment and proper implementation of an affective financial management system based on the existing AIMS model, suggesting management system based on the existing AIMS model, suggesting improvements when possible;
• Ensure that all financial reports to AIMS-NEI Secretariat are completed and submitted on time along with all supporting documents;
Qualification Required & Experience
• Master's Degree in Business Administration, Finance Management or Accounting;
• Minimum of 5 years of experience managing operations, with a minimum of 3 years at senior management level and 3 years in accounting, auditing, NGO and/or business administration;
• Experience developing and implementing systems, policies and procedures;
• Familiarity with Sage, excellent computer skills, including MS Word and Excel
