Job Vacancy For Accounting Officer At Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund
The Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund has been established pursuant to the Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund (GIIF) Act, Act 877 of 2014. GIIF's mandate is to provide financial resources to manage, coordinate and invest in a diversified portfolio of infrastructure projects in Ghana for national development.
The GIIF is governed by a nine-member Board, appointed as per Section 8 of Act 877
Job Purpose:
• To assist in ensuring the overall integrity and accuracy of the General Ledger as a basis for the preparation of financial statements and management reporting.
• To support the Accountant on all matters relating to the operation of the Finance Department that includes, capturing and processing of financial information, financial reporting and analysis, accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations and overall financial discipline.
• Contribute to the efficient and effective workings of the Finance Department by executing daily tasks with a strong attention to detail.
• Assist with the preparation of management accounts and preparation of statutory financial reports.
• Ensuring compliance with IFRS financial reporting requirements
Position Role and Responsibilities:
• Meet all internal and external reporting requirements timelines.
• Assist in monitoring all Balance Sheet and Income Statement Accounts movements, and ensuring that they reflect the correct balances, and all relevant account reconciliations are performed and corrective actions taken.
• Process payments and reconciliation of all transactions on the various investment portfolios.
• Assist with the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual commentaries on the results, including investigation into inconsistent and/or major variances
• Assist with preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual budgets of the Fund.
• Ensure compliance with lFRS requirements.
• Assist in facilitating internal and external statutory audit by providing the information required.
• Assists with capital and operating budget preparation.
• Assist in performing General Ledger accounting functions as needed and/or assigned for the purpose of ensuring that the functions of the department are completed in an accurate and timely manner.
• Maintain a wide variety of financial information, files and records for the purpose of ensuring the availability of documentation and compliance with established policies and regulatory guidelines.
• Reconcile a wide variety of financial data for the purpose of maintaining accurate account balances and ensuring compliance with established accounting practices.
• Provide support for the daily, weekly and monthly accounting functions.
• Provide support to the Accounting Manager the accounting team and the Finance Director.
• Assist in addressing observations raised in internal/external audit reports and ensure their resolution.
• Ensure the integrity of financial information of the Fund.
• Any other duties that may be assigned by the Accountant
Qualification Required & Experience
• Minimum of a second class upper division in B.Com (Accounting/Finance), Bsc Admin (Accounting/Finance).
• Part qualification of ICA (Ghana), ACCA, CIMA is desirable
• Minimum of 4 years working experience in the financial services industry.
• Reasonable understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
• Computer literacy and knowledge of personal computers and software packages such as MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Access.
• Working knowledge of appropriate accounting software.
• Good communication and presentation skills at a senior level.
Skills and Abilities and Personality Traits:
• Ability to analyse and evaluate data for completeness, acceptability and accuracy.
• Analytical mind with strong orientation to financial analysis and very high attention to details.
• Ability and experience in communicating with all levels of management regarding management information needs.
• Ability to communicate verbally and in writing as well as proactively manage external and internal information flow within the work environment
• Ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
• Ability to work with the highest integrity, confidentiality and work ethics in line with the business standards of practice.
• Excellent computer skills, particularly in MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access and Power Point.
• Reasonably good understanding of financial institution's balance sheet and its implications for related revenue and expenses.
• Budgeting, forecasting and reporting to management Expense analysis and reporting.
• Compliance with tax, legislative and statutory requirements.
• Good understanding of Investment Fund Management
• Must be highly detail oriented and organised and act and operate independently with minimal daily direction from manager to accomplish objectives
• Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and external agencies to maximise performance, creativity, problem solving, and achieve the targeted objectives of the fund.
