Abosso Gold Fields Ltd - Damang Gold Mine, a subsidiary of Gold Fields Limited is a world-class operation, consisting of 25 Mtpa open pit-mining operations and a 5.2 Mtpa CIL Metallurgical Plant. The mine is located in tropical climate in the Western Region of Ghana.

Description Of Job

Purpose Of The Job:-
The Mining Department of Tarkwa Gold Mine is seeking to employ an experienced, competent and self-motivated Unit Manager - Mine Planning who will be responsible for medium term Mine Planning activities in a high volume selective mining environment. The successful applicant will be responsible for the provision of high level of  technical and professional support to the mining team; developing plans & schedules consistent with operational goals; monitoring production performance; and undertaking project work to improve upon budget performance and to ensure continuous ore feed to the Process Plant.

Key Responsibilities:-

•  Produces twelve month mining production plan /budget.
•  Produces five-year medium term mining plan to align to Life of Mine (lom) and strategic plans and objectives.
•  Liaises with maintenance department to ensure primary production equipment KPI targets are achieved.
•  Efficient planning of ore stockpiles to ensure uninterrupted ore supply to all the crushers.
•  Ensures pit & dump engineering designs are available and meet all technical and safety requirements for planning purposes.
•  Ensures haul cycles are optimised
•  Ensures efficient use of dumping space to meet operational requirements and road infrastructures are always available for production.
•  Ensures medium term block models have available grade control data for planning purposes.
•  Ensures monthly and quarterly production reconciliations and reports are generated to meet deadlines.
•  Trains and develops subordinate engineers and other allied personnel.

Qualification Required & Experience

Key Requirements:-

•  A tertiary qualification in the field of Mining Engineering from a recognised tertiary institution
•  Work experience in open pit gold mining, of which at least 5 years must have been in an open pit planning role, preferably in a high volume selective mining environment utilizing large production equipment.
•  Demonstrated open pit production and equipment scheduling experience.
•  Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and a working knowledge of mine planning software including Xpac, Xeras, Talpac, Surpac and Whittle.
•  Sound business acumen and in particular, an understanding of the main cost drivers in this environment.
•  A valid Ghanaian driving licence
•  Medical fitness for the position and environment.
•  Computer programming literacy planning software (e.g. Tool Command Language, Visual Basic, etc).
