Job Purpose:

•   Gold Fields Ghana is seeking to employ an experienced and results-driven individual for the position of Employee Relations Manager. Reporting to the VP & Head of HR - West Africa, the incumbent will ensure management of all Employee Relations (ER) activities of the West Africa Operations in a responsible and sustainable manner and in accordance with Collective Agreements (CAs). Labour Law, and other applicable legislation.
•   The role will also involve educating Human Resources teams, line managers, and the general workforce regarding ER Industrial
•   Relations (IR) standards and procedures and' work with stakeholders such as organized labour and relevant government agencies to ensure harmonious human resources climate at the Tarkwa and Damang operations .

Key Responsibilities:

•   Develop and implement a comprehensive ER Strategy that is aligned with the Group ER philosophy to drive sustainable business performance and, improve union - management relationship.
•   Facilitate negotiations between the Company and Union on CAs reviews and salary negotiations,
•   Audit company policies and procedures and CAs to ensure compliance with Labour Act 2003 (Act 651) and, other relevant legislation.
•   Provide' expect advice on labour issues to HR teams and line managers to ensure compliance with the Labour Act 2003 (Act 651). CAs, and associated legislation .
•   Evaluate and ensure application of best fit approaches and methodologies to managing ER processes such as employee discipline, grievance, and poor performance management.
•   Identify and' anticipate areas of potential conflicts and' develop appropriate strategies to counteract undesirable trends and avoid production losses resulting from employee action, labour disputes, and' legal action.
•   Coordinate weekly and monthly reports on ER-related issues for the VP HR, HR managers, and General Managers, evaluating and following up on issues arising from the reports.
•   Serve as the Company's communication expert on labour issues and champion change management.
•   Implement communication tools and systems to solicit employees' inputs and opinions to maintain effective relationships throughout the Company.
•   Conduct remuneration surveys to guide managerial decisions and actions on compensation and benefits strategies.
•   Represent the company in the event of legal action and Labour Commission enquiries relating to employees.
•   Provide ER competency-based training to HR staff, ER officers, and line managers.

Qualification Required & Experience

•   Tertiary qualification in HR Management or Employee/Industrial Relations from an accredited institution.
•   8 - 10 years' experience with proven track record in Employee/Industrial Relations practices within the mining or extractive industry,
•   Postgraduate qualification in Employee/lndustrial Relations or Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) will be an added advantage
•   Active membership of a recognized professional HR body will be an added advantage.
•   Excellent understanding and interpretation of Labour Act, 2003 (Act 651).
•   Knowledge of HR risk management, conflict resolution mechanisms, and relevant regulations pertaining to industrial relations.
•   Excellent communication skills with an integrative approach to delivering business outcomes.
•   Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills
•   Solid strategic view of the business and ability to create integrated alignment.
•   Medical fitness for the position and environment.
•   Must possess a valid Ghanaian driver's license.
