Responsibilities:

•   Primary focus of this position will be to ensure that the Winding Engine is operated safely in compliance with statutory regulations.
•   Work with winder maintenance crew during defective and planned maintenance on the winder.
•   The position will require the incumbent to develop strong working relationships with the electrical, mechanical and shaft operations department
•   Position will require a strong safety consciousness and commitment

The position further requires the driver to:

•   Conduct visual inspection on the equipment prior to the start of shift.
•   Lower and raise men and material to and from underground working areas safely.
•   Hoist rock ore and waste material from underground.
•   Keep the winding engine equipment environmentally clean and safe.
•   Submit daily report on the condition and operations of the winder.
•   Ensure clear and distinct signals are received and given to banksman bellman and good communication to banksman/bellman.
•   Perform any other related duties assigned from time to time by the winder supervisor.

Qualification Required & Experience

•   S.S.C.E Certificate or any other related discipline with at least five (5) years hands-on experience. :
•   Knowledge in winding engine operations.
•   Ability to interpret code of shaft signals
•   Ability to identify minor faults on winding engine equipment.
•   Ability to work within a demanding work environment.
•   Ability to work independently and an effective team player.
•   Willing to work extended hours to achieve tight deadlines;
•   Effective communication skills both written and oral;
•   Flexible rotations if critical circumstances need attention including night shift;
•   High regard for safe work practices and procedures;
•   Should not be more than 45 years of age.
