Job Vacancy For Chief Transport Officer



Central University invites applications from suitably qualified and competent professionals to fill the vacant position of Chief Transport Officer.

CHIEF TRANSPORT OFFICER

The Transport Officer is the head of the Transport Unit and reports to the Director (Administration) of the University.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

•   Draws up plans for routine maintenance of vehicles and recommends for procurement of essential spare parts and vehicle accessories
•   Receives and handles transport requests from all departments/schools/faculties of the University.
•   Draws up charts/programmes for all transport requests
•   Schedules vehicles and drivers for official assignments
•   Plans for renewal of documents of all University vehicles
•   Manages drivers' leave and makes alternative arrangements in the event that a driver is relieved or on assignment outside
•   Sources for additional transport for field trips and clinicals where necessary
•   Analyzes log books and fuel utilization of vehicles and produce relevant reports for management decision
•   Assists in the formulation of transport policy
•   Organises vehicle checks
•   Performs any other duties related to transport management assigned by management from time to time

Qualification Required & Experience

Applicants must possess:

•   Relevant diploma or degree in transport management or driving management science
•   Membership of relevant Associations will be an added advantage
•   A minimum of 15 years post qualification experience in similar position in a reputable public/private institutions

•   Excellent knowledge of traffic rules and regulations
•   Strong mechanical background.
•   Ability to diagnose vehicular problems
•   Excellent inventory management skills
•   Strong negotiation skills and ability to influence others
•   Ability to forge collaboration with diverse stakeholders
•   Knowledge of road safety procedures
•   Ability to management people
•   Knowledge in vehicle scheduling and route planning
