Job Vacancy For Media & Communications Expert
Duties:
• Ensure communications (internal and external) continuity and connect messages with key stakeholders and audiences at the right time
• Spearhead assigned projects and support communication in the Research and Programmes Department
• Lead media engagement activities
• Identify and help establish partnerships in the area of governance and related areas
• Write departmental/organisational reports
• Lead dissemination of messages through existing channels
• Strategize and execute a national/international media engagement plan
• Vet inquiries from the media and the public
• Be a gatekeeper for the Centre and schedule follow-up meetings and engagements
• Monitor and evaluate reports on the communication activities of the Centre
• Handle related budgets - reprints, association memberships, meet-ups, etc.
• Track record of earned media coverage of the Centre's activities at all levels
• Track record of successful social media engagement and other online audience interaction
Qualification Required & Experience
• A Master's degree in Communication Studies or equivalent in a related field
• A minimum of 2 years' experience with traditional media, social media, marketing communications and public relations messaging
• A mastery of Microsoft Office Suite, familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics CRM, Core Motives or similar planning and contact tools proficient with content management systems or similar web-based functions. Command of top social media formats.
• Ability to rapidly learn and adapt to changing technical tools
• A second language proficiency - helpful, though not a prerequisite
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
• The Media & Communications expert must understand the nature of the organization's key audiences
• Excellent relationship-building skills among communicators across different sectors
• He/she must have hands-on messaging tactics (creating, requesting, or repurposing content as needed) for the distribution of the information (using Centre's channel, media interest, and/or third-party channels) to share content in a timely and effective manner
• Knowledge in web skills and updating website is an advantage
Specific attributes will include:
• Exceptional communicator - with impeccable writing, editing, and conversational skills
• Understanding of, and experience with traditional media - from major outlets to niche publications
• Operates with urgency and efficiency - in service of key contacts and across multiple projects
• Collaborates - proactively contributes ideas, seeks input, shares information, cross-checks the work of others, and ensures open pathways to the swift creation and delivery of messages
• Exceptional interpersonal skills - in keeping with a highly respectful workplace at the Centre and its partnering institutions
• Respects confidentiality - with utmost care and privacy for Centre's members and donor organizations
