Job Vacancy For Executive Director At Literacy Bridge Ghana (Wa Upper West Region)



The Executive Director will manage Literacy Bridge Ghana’s operations to effectively and efficiently provide health and agriculture information to rural populations across Ghana.

The duties and responsibilities of this position fall into four broad categories: Administration, Partnership Building, Program Operations and Leadership (people and strategy).

Administration: handle administrative aspects of Ghana operations:

•  Create and deliver reports to Literacy Bridge Ghana Board of Directors
•  Oversee all Ghana financial affairs, including budgets, adherence to effective internal financial controls and review of monthly financial reporting
•  Act as Ghanaian representative for the U.S. NGO, Literacy Bridge, conducting all affairs with the government, the media and partners in keeping with policies and procedures
•  Maintain good governance practices for all Literacy Bridge related entities in Ghana in accordance with Ghanaian law
•  Prepare program status reports for Literacy Bridge headquarters

Partnership Building: build partnerships with government officials, non-government organizations, community organizations and for-profit companies to develop content and establish sustainable methods of program delivery:

•  Develop and implement a partnership building strategy and operations plan
•  Consistently identify new partners
•  Host meetings, briefings and other forms of engaging existing and potential partners
•  Establish and foster relationships with a broad network of donors, practitioners, government representatives and business leaders in the agricultural and health sectors

Program Operations: manage implementation of program and monitoring and evaluation (M&E) strategies:

•  Oversee the high quality, timely execution of programs in the field, including recruiting new staff members as appropriate
•  Manage ongoing health and agriculture content development
•  Plan for and execute robust monitoring and evaluation of program outputs and outcomes, including collaborating with content partners and community users to determine M&E goals and indicators
•  Ensure cost-effective delivery of donor and client commitments
•  Contribute to the documentation and sharing of knowledge

Leadership: contribute to program and organization strategy; manage all Ghanaian staff:

•  Recruitand provide for professional development of highly effective staff in all functions
•  Motivate, inspire and enable a team of Ghanaian and international professionals to deliver high quality results
•  Identify and pursue innovative solutions to achieving objectives
•  Identify and assist in developing proposals for grants and local fundraising activities

Qualification Required & Experience

•  University degree in business, agriculture, health, technology or related field
•  7-10 years of professional experience with progressively higher levels of responsibility
•  A minimum of 3 years experience leading a business unit or large-scale project
•  Familiarity with rural life in the Upper West Region of Ghana
•  Detail-oriented; ability to manage multiple things simultaneously
•  Good working knowledge of local agriculture and health systems
•  Proven capacity to build partnerships and represent the organization among a diverse range of stakeholders
•  Clear evidence of operations management and administration skills
•  Strong analytical as well as oral and written communications skills
•  Competent with Word and Excel; able to troubleshoot common computer problems
•  Fluent in English (required) and Dagaare (strongly preferred)
