Top-notch Recruitment invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for the position of a Senior Mine Planning Engineer to be responsible for all the technical aspects of the mine planning process which includes optimisation, mine design, production scheduling, reconciliation, option analyses, mining cost modelling and financial evaluations. The ideal candidate must have at least 8 years of experience within the mining sector, majority of which have been spent in a surface mine environment.

Key Responsibilities:

•  Supervise and/or train other department personnel to perform duties listed
•  Develop accurate mineral model(s) for use in planning and reserve/resource calculations
•  Design pits, phases and other earth works projects based on mineral models and constraints such as mining limitations, slope design criteria, topography and facility locations
•  Use pit design, knowledge of mineral models and production constraints to generate a short-term, mid-term and long-term plans that accurately predicts mining process
•  Review mine plans and schedules and make recommendations on the integration of those plans with the long term project plans
•  Evaluate alternative designs and mine plans based on various operational scenarios with the goal of maximizing productivity and revenue
•  Prepare and Review resource/reserve estimations and technical report
•  Prepare and Review plan reconciliations
•  Prepare and Review designs of dumps, access roads, ramps and mine site facilities
•  Project management duties, including, but not limited to: contract review, bid award, cost estimation, schedule tracking and reporting

Qualification Required & Experience

•  Education: BSc. Mining Engineering or related field
•  Experience:  8 years
•  Software: Datamine, Surpac,
•  Desired skills: excellent skills in organization, presentation, written and verbal communications. Sound knowledge of mine methods, costs, and productivity.
