Tropenbos Ghana (TBG) is an independent NGO that bridges the gap between forest policy, management and science which provides a forum for discussing forest issues and carries out relevant demand-driven research and capacity building.

Tropenbos Ghana is a member of the network of Tropenbos International (TBI), which aims to improve management of tropical forests for people, conservation and sustainable development and currently has members in Colombia,
Vietnam, Indonesia, Suriname and DR Congo.

The programme is implemented in partnership with among others, the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, the Forestry Commission, the CSIR-Forestry Research Institute of Ghana and the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources of KNUST.

Duty Station: Kumasi, with regular national and international travel

Terms of employment:

Principal Tasks and Responsibilities:

1) Development, coordination and administration of TBI Ghana

• Responsible for the management of the organization including financial and human resource management.
• Develop and implement the organization's research, capacity building and informed dialogue programme.
• Project formulation and resource mobilization.
• Responsible for programme management reporting and evaluation activities
• Engage, guide and motivate a multidisciplinary team of staff and collaborating partners.

2) Dissemination and impact creation

• Promote the uptake of programme outcomes for policy and practice.
• Participate in national networks about forest-relevant development issues.

3) Participation in the Tropenbos International network

• Active member of the TBI network

Qualification Required & Experience

• Ghanaian nationality or permanent resident of Ghana.
• A postgraduate degree (preferably PhD) in a discipline relevant to Tropical Forestry issues
• Not less than 5 years' work experience in sustainable development issues related to forests, land use and forest-dependent livelihoods.
• Must possess experience in research - policy interface, programme and project management.
• Must have proven track record in resource mobilization
• Experience in coordinating and guiding interdisciplinary teams consisting of staff from several partners and countries.
• Knowledge of national and international forest agendas and proven network relevant to these agendas.
• Fluent in English; knowledge of French will be an advantage
• Willingness to travel for the execution of these tasks.
