A maritime organization in Ghana is urgently seeking to recruit qualified Ghanaians for the following position: Marine Surveyors

Job Description

Flag State Survey and Inspections, Port State Control Inspections, Maritime Security and Examination of Seafarers

Duties

Successful applicants will be required to implement the provisions of the Ghana Shipping Act, 2003. Ghana Maritime Security Act, 2004 and the Maritime Pollution Act, 2016 and their subsidiary legislation's, Specific duties will include:

• Survey of ships hulls
• Survey of ships machinery and equipment
• Survey of life-saving appliances
• Measurement of ships for tonnage
• Plan approval
• Survey of ship construction
• Casualty investigation
• Load line survey including assignment of ships load lines
• Survey of ships for ship-source pollution
• Examination of seafarers
• Inspection of foreign ships in Ghanaian ports and terminals
• Performing any other duties that may be assigned

Qualification Required & Experience

• Class 1 Deck Officer (unlimited) Certificate of Competency or
• Class 1 Engineer Officer (unlimited) certificate of competency
• Retired Naval Officer with rank of commander
• BSc Marine Engineering with at least 2 years post qualification experience
• BSc. Nautical Studies with Major in Navigation, Naval architecture or Marine Engineering

In 4, 5 and 6 having seagoing experience will be an advantage.
In all cases possession of Masters Degree in Maritime safety administration or maritime safety and environmental management will be an advantage
