Job Vacancy For Head of Internal Audit



A leading General Insurance company is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Head of Internal Audit. The successful candidate will report administratively to the Chief Executive Officer and functionally to Board of Directors.

Role Specification

• Ensure that the department operates within the authority, scope and responsibilities granted to it as contained in the internal audit charter by the board of Directors.
• Examine, review and submit a report on the company's financial transactions, operations, internal controls, risk management processes and appraisal of regulatory / statutory requirements
• Prepare the annual audit plan and budget of the internal audit department and monitor implementation
• Follow up on outstanding management action plans to ensure significant risks and major deficiencies identified are effectively addressed
• Responsible for the preparation of periodic audit reports to management and other relevant stakeholders with appropriate recommendations and remedical actions in respect of planned and or special audits
• Ensure that the department operates within the rules, regulations and policies of the company
• Lead investigations on suspected fraudulent activities within the company and report findings to management and/or the audit committee

Qualification Required & Experience

• First Degree in Accounting or related field
• Membership of a professional (e.g ACCA, IIA, CFE)
• Insurance Diploma is an added advantage
• Minimum of 7 years working experience in similar role
• Strong knowledge in Accounting / Auditing
• Demonstrated understanding of insurance business
• Strong leadership skills
• Excellent communication skills (both oral and written)
• Team player, able to work with colleagues across the organization
