Job Vacancy For Head of Legal / Bodily Injury Claims



A leading general insurance company is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Head of Legal/Bodily Injury Claims. The successful candidate will give legal advice to management and also manage all bodily injury, death claims and bonds.

Role Specification

• Establish liability to the company for reported claims
• Ensure that all bodily injury, death and bond claims are acknowledeg without prejudice
• Ensure that claims investigation geared towards obtaining the requisite evidence in establishing liability are conducted and report issued to that effect
• Deal with all legal threats regarding claims
• Ensure that all collateral security for bonds/guarantees are adequate, free from any encumbrances and duly & appropriately registered with the appropriate court or legal institution
• Assist in managing claims ratio of the company
• Communicate and negotiate with external parties (Regulators, external counsel, public authority etc), creating relations of trust.
• Draft and solidify agreements, contracts and other legal documents to ensure thet company's full legal rights
• Collaborate with management to devise efficient defense strategies
• Research and evaluate different risk factors regarding business decisions and operations
• Ensure the prosecution of company's cases as well as managing litigation

Qualification Required & Experience

• A minimum of 7 years at the Bar or 3 years relevant experience
• Demonstrate very good understanding of insurance business
• Be in good standing at the bar
• Have a solid understanding and significant experience and knowledge in company law and practice, labour law and insurance law
• Excellent legal drafting skills, particularly contracts
• Strong negotiation skills
• Ability to interact with internal and external contacts and provide professional advice
